I bought this VPN 2 months ago, more or less due to positive comments on some review sites (including this one). Got off to a grumpy start, as I couldn`t install the software. Contacted support, and they told me I have to be a local administrator. OK, so I logged in with the “administrator” account and I managed to install the software.
After that I connected to a USA server I think, but surprise: no sites were unblocked (I am in China BTW)! Contacted them again and they told me that I have to start the program with the “Run as administrator” option (so just double click does not work). Anyway, I did that, and it finally worked like it supposed to: Facebook, Twiiter etc etc etc all unblocked !!!
Overall, I`d say SunVPN does what it says on the tin, but it isn`t as “plug-and-play” as they want you to believe. You have to install it with the exact steps from the website. Granted, it`s not that hard, but this is marketed as a “plug-and-play VPN for dummies solution”.
It does however work flawlessly after you install it: good speeds, reliable connection, unblocks all sites (at least from China) etc. I also appreciated that the support guys were quick to respond every time.
I have been using SunVPN for several months now. Overall I`m pretty satisfied with the service: it`s fast, reliable, easy to use etc. The only problem I have with them is that they don`t allow bittorrents, so it`s pretty useless if you want to download something without receiving a DCMA notice.
I use SunVPN daily, it`s a good and reliable solution for bypassing Etisalat`s filters in the UAE. You can also use Skype with it, though I`m not sure that`s exactly legal here.
They don`t have so many servers to choose from, but I got good speeds with them. The UK server worked best for me, so I mostly use that.
I only use the VPN from my office to get past the “corporate” blocks the IT guys throw at us. They use a software called Websense to basically block anything good . SunVPN is the only VPN that I actually managed to connect from the office (and I tried several), but only with the “bypass firewall” option ON.
Signed up with SunVPN 2 weeks ago. Install was easy next-next-next, no need to copy configuration files or such, speed is good on most servers (tested from Beijing).
I usually don`t write reviews, I only do it if the service is very bad or very good. I am not interested in unblocking some Asian Internet restrictions, I need a VPN for watching online TV like NBC, BBC etc. So obviously I would need a VPN with some fast US and UK servers, and no bandwidth limit.
I tried 4-5 different providers so far and I had the same issue with them: eventually the VPN speed got so low that it lagged the video, making it unwatchable because of the the constant buffering. I used some VPN providers with servers in +40 countries, that had this exact issue. What`s the point to have servers in 40 countries if they`re all slow !?
Anyway, what I liked about SunVPN was the speeds I was getting. I have a 20Mbps broadband connection, and I`m easily getting over 10 Mbps with the VPN on, more than enough to stream video. I even streamed HD videos, no lag whatsoever. They have around 10 servers I think, not so many, but they worked very well for me. Sometimes less is more.
Very happy with SUNVPN. Very good speed and unlimited switches unlike other provider. Software easy to install and to use.
SunVPN is one of the few providers that offers 256 bit encryption on their OpenVPN packages. Security is a main concern for me, I heavily use public WiFi networks, both on my laptop and my iPhone (if you think I`m paranoid just google Firesheep). The better encryption is the main reason I chose this provider. Speeds are good on both devices and connection has never dropped, however I never needed to connect for more than 30 minutes at a time. I will rate them 5 stars because the VPN is very stable and I never had problems with it.
This is the third VPN service I used so far. I`m living in Oman for almost 2 years now, you really need a VPN to surf the web here, without it you always end up stumbling on the Omantel block page.
I used other VPN providers, what I like about this one is that the OpenVPN software remembers the username and password, so you don`t have to enter it every time you connect. I am satisfied with the speed and I never needed support. Price for OpenVPN is 15$ every month, more expensive than others but worth it. PPTP is cheaper, but as I understand OpenVPN is safer.
